I don’t think I ever fully understood the phrase “the work of sobriety”. Sobriety seemed a passive process. By it’s very nature – you don’t pick up a drink. You’re NOT doing something. That’s passive. Maybe that’s why sober didn’t stick last year when I first tried to stop drinking. I don’t think I fully understood “the work”.
